Two Vikings throw at the same time.

Each player throws an equal number of times per round.

Players score each time their axe sticks the target.

Total highest score crowns the Viking or Viqueen at the end.

Players are given approximately 20 minutes to warm up and practice. Our awesome coaches work with each individual, ensuring everyone is trained and comfortable. Players will learn single and two-handed throwing.

It's friendly. It's fierce. And it goes something like this.

Do you take walk-ins?

We highly recommend booking ahead of time to avoid disappointment. You can walk in, but recommend booking ahead more than 48 hours in advance. Vikings always planned their raids, we recommend you do the same.

Can I take pictures?

Yes! Document your groups successes and choose a mean looking filter! If you're posting on Instagram, make sure to tag us @thehiltofyork

Can I bring an axe to throw?

We will provide the axes, please leave any weapons, negativity, or nuclear warheads at home.

What are your hours of operation?

Monday (Closed) Tuesday ( Closed) Wednesday 2 :30 - 6:45 Thursday 2:30 - 6:45 Friday 2 :30 - 8:15 Saturday 11:30 - 6:45 Sunday 11:30 - 3:45 Yes we know the hours are strange

How long does it take?

Our standard session is 1hr 15mins. The first 15 minutes include an overview of our safety rules and your group's bay assignment, followed by a full hour of axe throwing with food and drink orders available after the session.

Is it safe?

We take safety seriously. All throwers are enclosed in a cage, with dampening pads above, below, and on the ground infront of targets. Spectators stand behind a secure partition while awaiting their turn, and axe coaches are present for the entirety of the session to ensure rule adherence. In addition, our axes and targets are checked before each session to ensure their integrity.

Can I drink alcohol?

Not until after your session. Soft drinks and hot drinks will be available during the session. Our partner Odin's Plate offer full alcohol service and a banging menu to match in their restaurant at the front of the building.

Can my younger family do this?

Absolutely, provided they can hold an axe unassisted and a parent or guardian is present. Our minimum age to participate is 13. The axes weigh 1.6 kgs (3.5 lbs). Our coaches are trained to work with younger participants all in a safe environment.

What should I book for my group size?

Our recommended group sizes are 2 - 12, with groups between 8-12 able to use our Exclusive Booking option at no extra charge. Groups over 12 people can easily be accommodated, just shoot us an email to

Can I cancel/change my booking?

Unfortunately, our booking time slots are too valuable to be cancelled once booked. If you need to change your booking please email, and we will do our best to accommodate.

How can I pay?

Online bookings must be made with a valid debit or credit card online. We do not take cash because it's messy.

What can I wear?

Viking outfits preferred, but normal clothes are more frequently favoured. We are throwing axes so no open toed shoes or loose hair please.
