Booking an Event at York’s Top TripAdvisor Destination
So now you’re sold on the idea of having your next birthday bash, stag do, hen party or corporate team building event at The Hilt, check out what you need to know.
First of all, booking is advisable to avoid embarrassment/disappointment. You will be pitted against your friends so be sure to have a suitably inappropriate and embarrassing name for them or we might have to come up with one for you. Depending on the size of your axe throwing birthday party group, you’ll be allocated one or more lanes and a friendly coach to show you the basics of axe throwing.
The aim of the exercise is simple. You’ll be hurling a wooden handed hatchet with a sharp bladed axe-head at a wooden target with the purpose of a) getting it to stick to the wood and b) scoring points. You get 3 points for nailing the centre bullseye and 2 or 1 point for the outer circles. However, everyone’s a winner if you measure this activity in the amount of laughter, teasing and fun it generates.
You can try one-handed and two-handed deliveries to find your best technique during the warm-up, ably assisted by cheering peers and a fun-loving trainer.
